Supports Announced for WA Shows!

In 2 weeks time The Chemist is set to step out with a set that incorporates all their dark, quirky and brooding new material to give a taste of what's to come in 2012. Today we can announce that Runner and Sun Orchestra will be supporting at the first show at The Bird in Northbridge on Feb 23 and then on March 2 at The Fly Trap in Freo special guests Sonpsilo Circus & Shy Panther will supporting! Should be 2 great nights out if you're in the west and you can grab tickets over on the Tours page, or at the door on the night!

After two successful EPs and touring nationwide over the last couple of years The Chemist have written and almost recorded their debut album. Now for the first time the band is set to step out with a set that incorporates all their dark, quirky and brooding new material to give a taste of what's to come in 2012. It all kicks off at The Bird in Perth on Feb 23 and then on March 2 at The Fly Trap (Fly By Night) in Freo!

Great news today as The Chemist's Lullaby #1 (Mercy) has been added to the Passport Approved playlist for the next 2 weeks!

Well, it's been a while between updates we must apologize, but The Chemist have been locked away working hard on their debut album and aside from the occasional show here it's all been about writing and recording. We'll have something of a blog from the guys soon about what has been going on in their world, but in the meantime The Chemist are currently featured artists in the spotlight section of the Canadian Music Festival Website. Check it out right here! Held in 2012, the festival will take place March 21 - 25 in Toronto!

triple j has just announced The Chemist as part of the new lineup for BIGSOUND Live 2011!

The lineup for this year's BIGSOUND Live is looking pretty rad! Now in it's 10th year BIGSOUND is all about emerging and breaking artists from across the country, and has expanded it's lineup to include over 50 new artists to this years program.

BIGSOUND Live will be held in 8 venues across Brisbane's Fortitude Valley from September 7 - 9 and will feature 80 acts over 2 massive nights.

The Chemist will be supporting solo artist and co-founder of the legendary Brisbane band the Go-Betweens, Robert Forster at the ARTBAR in Perth on Thursday July 14th in a stripped back, semi-acoustic performance.

"It is a great honour to be offered the opportunity to open the stage for someone as important & special to the Australian music world as Robert Forster... We have been requested to play as a band, however, to strip it back, to accommodate for the atmosphere & also because Robert is playing acoustically. It isn't really appropriate to leave with the arrogant wall of feedback young bands have loved leaving in their wake for decades (ourselves included) when opening for an acoustic performance. So we shall place ourselves in this "acoustic" musical context and see what happens. Taking the flesh off the songs & leaving the bones, we hope you enjoy. God gave rock & roll to you, know your role jabroni!" -Ben

RTR FM Fremantle Winter Music Festival

The Fremantle Winter Music Festival 2011 once again descends upon the port city on Saturday June 25 across three venues and five huge stages in North Fremantle with a fully massive lineup!

International Song Writing Competition - 2nd Place Winners with "Mercy"

Sweeeet!! Get this: lullaby #1 (mercy) has scored second place in the 2010 International Songwriting Competition for the Rock catagory! With over 15,000 entries from 115 countries it's pretty rad to see Mercy up there in the top 3!

The Chemist have been living it up back in WA, and have been working hard on demoing new tracks for the upcoming album. Details are scarce, but we have received this photo depicting Elliot (as always) behind the kit bangin' out a few new tunes. The good news is they'll be out of self-imposed exile in a matter of weeks as they take to the road supporting Hungry Kids of Hungary, so stay tuned for more info as the dates get closer. lullaby #1 (mercy) an ISC finalist

lullaby #1 (mercy) has been selected as a finalist in the Rock catagory for this years International Songwriting Competition! This year was the most competitive ever with over 15,000 entrants. Whilst the main award winners are selected by the ISC judges, there is a People's Voice catagory, which is an online voting contest that allows the you to listen to all the finalists' songs and vote for your favorite. If you reckon lullaby #1 (mercy) is a pretty top song, put in a vote for us here! Voting is open now until March 31st. You can check out all the winners and details at the ISC site

Touring with Hungry Kids of Hungary

Hey! Here's some news; The Chemist will be joining the Hungry Kids of Hungary on their freshly announced national tour. The tour is hitting up all capital cities and a handful of regional's (even Canberra) (*post Canberra show antics may include pyrotechnics and an adult film screening), so you'll be unlucky if it doesn't make it to your town. The tour goes all the way through May, check the dates below, or the tours page for when it's near you.
